Strategic Mapping acquires moovel North America

Portland, Oregon—Strategic Mapping, a Toronto-based provider of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), announced June 22nd, 2020 that it acquired moovel North America, a Portland based leader of mobile ticketing solutions, to combine their transit portfolio to simplify travel in cities.

moovel North America originated from an acquisition and merger of two start-ups, RideScout, based in Austin, one of the first companies to offer trip planning for a variety of mobility options—including transit, rideshare, and bikeshare—all in one app; and Portland-based GlobeSherpa, an industry leader in mobile ticketing solutions for public transit. With the backing of Daimler, the two companies became moovel North America, and worked as a unified team to bring innovative technology solutions to transit agencies across North America.

With 25 employees located in Canada, Strategic Mapping offers hardware design, software application and system integration services to more than 30 public transit agencies and is servicing more than half a billion riders annually.

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Strategic Mapping, moovel North America will continue to operate out of its current location in Portland, Oregon with 25 employees. moovel North America provides mobile ticketing apps and multimodal solutions to 20 transit agencies in 13 metro areas. Bram Granovsky, President & CEO, of Strategic Mapping Inc. will manage the organization.
