DevOps / Security Engineer, Remote

As moovel’s next DevOps / Security Engineer, you’ll be responsible for building and managing a world-class system that supports transit agencies and users throughout the world. What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting all aspects of delivery of developer code to well maintained and stable environments
  • Leaving the code base in a better state than you found it
  • Building new infrastructure to support projects and future development efforts
  • Improving the performance, availability and overall quality of our platform
  • Providing operational feedback and expertise within the engineering team
  • Being an instrumental part in long-term architectural requirements
  • Participating in an on-call rotation for incident response
  • Performing infrastructure work and changes
  • Identifying automation and tooling to help improve development efficiency
  • Advocating for automation and tooling changes in planning meetings
  • Working with teammates to design key platform features
  • Other duties as required by the company


Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3+ years of hands-on development and cloud infrastructure experience
  • Experience working in an agile development environment
  • Proficiency in Javascript, Node.js
  • Proficiency in AWS services and features
  • Practical experience with web development using multiple frameworks
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and concepts
  • Experience in micro-service or service oriented architectures
  • Strong understanding of RESTful principles
  • Experience and expertise with source control (git)
  • Strong working familiarity with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)


Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject
  • Experience working with and maintaining CI / CD in Jenkins
  • Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence or similar tools
  • Mastery of linux operating systems and command line tools
  • Familiarity with GraphQL
  • Understanding of virtualization and containers (Docker)
  • Mobile development (Android or iOS) is a plus
  • Data aggregation, reporting, and financial reconciliation experience is a plus
